After the publisher's ok, more accurate line drawings
are scanned into the computer and coloring is finished in Photoshop.
Each spread is saved in a DropBox site, where it is retrieved by the publisher
for final preparations.
Here are pictures of the progression on one spread of the book...
…and the book is finished!
Here is a preview of the cover for I'll Take My Chances
written by Mark Burrows and illustrated by me.
Look for it in the Fall of 2015.
The work continues with more accurate drawing.
Tissue paper sketches of the characters are first done in markers, then in pencil, and sometimes
cut apart to get the figures to look right.
These sketches are sent to the publisher.
While waiting for the publisher's comments, some value studies are done for each spread.
With the values mapped out, any needed corrections can be more easily seen
and the color finishes can go faster.
Each spread is put in a folder with all the sketches and reference materials.
With a speedy ok from the publisher, we're ready to work on the color finished artwork.
Welcome to my blog! This is where I will post new art, news and current projects that are being developed. Enjoy!
